Allison Crowe heading to the “super”-sized screen

Allison Crowe is heading for the big screen in the upcoming blockbuster Superman film Man of Steel, coming to theatres in June.

Allison, a singer/songwriter from Nanaimo, BC, has made Corner Brook her home for the past few years. Performing in and around town, Allison has also taken on musical direction roles with Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador, including with the upcoming original production of Newfoundland Vinyl – The Flip Side at the 2013 Gros Morne Theatre Festival.

Everyone involved in the Man of Steel project is very tight-lipped about exactly what Allison will be doing on-screen with the Kryptonian superhero, or if she is in the soundtrack of the film, but she can confirm that she was involved with filming:

“The experience of filming on ‘Man of Steel’  was one of the most fulfilling and INSANELY exciting (seriously) experiences I’ve ever had  – if not THE most! I can’t say much about it – and that’s part of the fun. My lips are sealed,” says Crowe…

“What I can say is – I was so excited I couldn’t sleep the night before, and that I am so incredibly humbled and overwhelmed and grateful to be a part of all of this – and it couldn’t have been with a lovelier group of people.”

All lips are sealed until after the red carpet premier of the film in New York City on June 10. However, comic book rumour website Cosmic Book News posted information back in March 2012 from a Man of Steel call-sheet from October 2011. The scene took place at a location called called “‘Cassidy’s Roadhouse,’ aka The Cassidy Inn Pub located in Nanaimo, British Columbia”:

Canadian Singer Allison Crowe has been cast as a singer at the bar. Crowe is originally from the area, who started out singing at local bars and coffee houses. Check out her website to listen to some samples. Crowe’s influences include Ani DiFranco, Pearl Jam,Tori Amos and TheCounting Crows. Maybe she will get a spot on the official soundtrack.

Of course, these rumours don’t carry a lot of weight, so we’ll have to wait until we see the movie to know for sure!
