caps tour with stop at
By Lexi Bainas, The Citizen August 11, 2010
She's capping a series of Canadian tour dates with a performance of guitar songs chosen just for this family event, which promotes tolerance and inclusion.
Crowe is frequently called one of Canada's finest songwriters and her musical foundation in classical and jazz blends uniquely with rock, folk and soul to appeal to fans of classic singer-songwriters such as Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, as well as other genres.
While some are still bewildered by today's digital environment, and fret about the decline of the old-style record industry, Crowe set a course years ago for creative and commercial independence, and she's navigated a true grassroots success.
Born right here on Vancouver Island, Crowe now tours Europe regularly, and has two bases in Canada: her birthplace, Nanaimo, and, her Atlantic home, Corner Brook, Nfld., from which she continues to develop her amazing style.
Crowe's set is scheduled for 4:40 p.m. So, enjoy this fine performer with more than 60 others on three stages at Special Woodstock.
The gates open at 10 a.m. with music onstage from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admittance is by donation.
