Musician brings Tidings to town

Singer Allison Crowe is coming to Ladysmith — and bringing some Christmas greetings with her.
The musicians brings her Tidings concert to town on the weekend and local Lena Birtwistle opens the show for her.
“I’ve been doing Tidings concerts for almost 10 years,” Crowe said. “It’s actually a lot of fun. There’s an energy about the holidays. Everyone is kind of in a good mood."
She also has two different Tidings album features Christmas classics like It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, but also includes songs like Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and Joni Mitchell’s River.
Crowe puts her own distinctive voice and rearranges the songs.
Crowe grew up in Nanaimo but has been calling Newfoundland home for the past four years.
“I’m back and forth a lot,” Crowe said.
Between her Canadian travels, she has found time to perform in Europe. Crowe has performed at the UK’s John Lennon Northern Lights Festival and been played on BBC radio. Crowe has six albums, all produced under own record label, Rubenesque Records Ltd. Her upcoming album is Spiral.
