Published: Friday, October 10, 2008Nanaimo singer Allison Crowe is part of a Leonard Cohen tribute CD to be distributed by U.K.-based music magazine MOJO.
Crowe's version of the Cohen song, Joan of Arc, will be on a collection of Cohen songs to be included with the December issue of MOJO. The recording includes contributions by Dion, Linda Thompson, Nick Cave, Martha Wainwright and Judy Collins.
Crowe's manager, Adrian du Plessis, said 150,000 CDs will be distributed by the London-based magazine, which has an international readership. As well, the disc will be played on MOJO's digital radio station. Crowe's song will reach an estimated one million listeners, du Plessis said. "It's going to actually be huge," he said.
Du Plessis was contacted by a MOJO representative who said he was familiar with Crowe's music. Her version of Joan of Arc was originally included on her 2004 disc, Secrets.
