Here I am again, back with an interview (my first one, hooray! :) ), my friend Allison Crowe was just OK to answer this... Thanks again!!
If you want to know her more, you can visit her Website and Myspace!

First of all, let us get to know you...

1 - Where do you live?
I live right now in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and I am originally from Nanaimo, British Columbia. (opposite ends of Canada!)

2 - How old are you?
I am 25 years old. :o)

3 - Do you have any other piercing(s)? (I know that you have one on your nose :) )
I have a belly button ring and earrings.... and I've taken out my nose ring just recently! I had it for a long time and was taking karate for a bit so had to take it out, then i just kind of decided to keep it out after forgetting to put it back in. hahah

4 - Tattoos?
3 Tattoos... 2 big ones on my back (take up almost my whole spine except for a little in the middle, and one small one on my arm that I got when touring Europe and the UK. I got it in Ireland on my birthday! (Nov.16 2005)

5 - What is your favorite drink / dish?
hmmm.. I LOVE red wine.. mostly big spicy red wines, (Bordeaux comes to mind) and I kind of love ALL food.. haha... but I suppose that one of my favourite things to eat is Sushi.

6 - What is your favorite movie? And what was the last one you watched?
I also just generally love movies! My current favourite was "Little Miss Sunshine" and I just watched one called "The Departed" that was really good, too!

7 - I saw that you liked to travel by watching pictures from your past tours, what is your favourite country?
As with food and movies, hahaha, I kind of love ALL countries! :o) The world is a beautiful place. That said, I really love Italy and France. I am thinking that might have something to do with the food and the wine.

8 - Do you have a place for religion in your life? I mean, do you believe in something?
I'd say that I am definitely a spiritual person, though when it comes to religion I suppose you could call me an agnostic. I don't necessarily believe, but I don't necessarily NOT believe, I just don't know!

10 - Do you have a gift for another art form (painting, design, sport)?
I do love painting and drawing, writing poetry, doing web design, swimming, playing soccer, and am just learning belly dancing, which is a lot of fun. (though I'm not good at it or anything haha.. but it is fun to learn!)

****************

Now I would like to know what you think about music...

11 - I saw on the "Tidings" DVD that you play piano, do you play any other instrument? and when did you begin to play?
I play piano as well as guitar, and I started playing piano when I was about 5 years old, and I played a little guitar starting when i was about 13 years old, and have just recently started learning and performing more with the guitar. :o)

12 - What are your musical influences? And why do you like them?
I like Pearl Jam, Counting Crows, Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, Loreena McKennitt, Ray Lamontagne.... this list could go on for a while! Anyways, I really look up to all of these people, and those that I haven't mentioned, for their combination of talent in writing and performing and their voices, and how they go about pursuing their respective careers.

13 - What was your first public experience as a singer? I mean singing in front of an audience :)
Apparently, so says my Mom, my first time singing in front of an audience was when I was about 8 years old, at a school assembly!

14 - And what's your best experience?
I think I really just have a whole bunch of best experiences when performing live. It's my favourite thing to do, really. It's kind of hard to narrow it down to one, because every concert, whether is big or small, has so many different great details involved.. meeting people, the audiences reactions, singing along.. etc etc. It's really why I love doing this!

15 - Let's go back to your "Tidings" release, I'd like to know why you chose "Angel"? (Because I'm a huge fan of Sarah McLachlan ;) ) How do you feel when you sing it?
I Loved the song Angel when it came out on Sarah's Fumbling Towards Ecstasy CD, so I really love singing it. It's a big release to me, and it seems to mean a lot to people (the song) so it's amazing how many people can connect with it.

16 - I listened to your latest CD called "This Little Bird" ("Ce petit oiseau" in French ;) ), are you planning to go on the road again this year?
I am definitely planning to go on the road again for the Ce Petit Oiseau tour ;o) I'll be coming through Europe again, through eastern and western Canada, and maybe a few dates in the United States. Lots of touring to come up this year!

17 - Talking about the past, I hope you won't mind me asking you this...Who is Lisa?
Lisa is a woman whom I went to high school with (she came to my shows quite a bit when i was just starting out) who went missing in 2002. I attended a vigil for her that year and had written a song for her to give to her family, and that's Lisa's Song.

18 - Did you write all your songs? And what makes you feel at ease to help you to write?
All of the originals on my CD's are ones that I have written. :o) Then there are the covers.. the Beatles songs, the Leonard Cohen etc etc. For me, writing is almost like therapy, like writing in a journal (which is often what I do and where a lot of my songs come from!) I think a bit of solitude and silence really help me to write. It's not so easy to write when you are on the road because so much is going on!

19 - If you have to chose one of your songs to sing, which one would you pick?
I would probably pick Skeletons and Spirits because it's a lot of fun to sing and play. :o)

20 - And one song from somebody else?
A Murder of One, Counting Crows. I do that one sometime! Ever since I was able to drive, it's a song that I can drive to and sing at the top of my lungs.. hehe.. I love it!

22 - This is my last question : How do you see yourself in the next few years?
I think I see myself touring more and traveling more and learning more and doing more of what I am doing right now, on a gradually increasing scale, to be exact. :o) (Also, I'm engaged so I see myself getting married, which is kind of a big life thing! haha and having one heck of a party... it seems most of the people that my fiancé and I know are musicians so that's one jam that I am REALLY looking forward to!!!!!!!)

Well, thanks for everything...
thank you! hope these work for ya!
Alley :o)
