raw piano jazz-ballads

Canadian singer-songwriter Allison Crowe simply has a voice that demands attention. Being blessed with such an extraordinary vocal range, Crowe can switch from a gentle purr to a sheer, climactic roar without a moment's notice!

As well as crafting her own heartfelt originals, Crowe is renowned for her vivid, raw interpretations of many classic tunes from the likes of The Beatles, Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Jewel, The Rolling Stones, and Sarah McLachlan.

Don't just take my word for it - this is what others have said about this unique talent:

"...One of the hot names in music and the arts for 2006!" (The Creative Arts Times)

"There is no easy way to describe the magnitude of the talent of Allison Crowe." (BVS Reviews)

"This is no ProTool'd and AutoTuned plastic pop opus but a real musician creating a real performance" (Wears the Trousers)

"Crowe has the soaring, swooping vibrato of a dark angel" (Monday Magazine)

"Her style is simple: piano chords under a voice that soars and swoops, trills and catches, dips to a last breath. "I speak the music language better than anything else," she says. And her confidence promises to shake the way music does business." (Cowichan News Leader-Pictorial)

"This voice came out of the radio, reached into the bottom of my gut and twisted me around on the spot so I found myself staring at the speakers. Everything disappeared except the voice. I'd never heard anything quite like it: the strength, the heart, a raw vulnerable kind of power. I started laughing it was so deep." (Village Views)

"An awestruck audience was wowed by the soaring winged vocals and dynamic thundering piano work...Lesser buildings would have collapsed under the emotive onslaught of her voice." (Gulf Islands Driftwood)

"If listening to the garden-variety pop princess is like drinking insipid white wine, then Crowe is akin to sipping the richest of brandies."
(The Times Colonist)
