Catch Allison Crowe before
she leaves the country.
The Vancouver Island chanteuse will bring her diverse range
of music to Alert Bay for two shows May 20 and 21.
The shows start her Canadian summer tour. Then she'll embark
on her debut European concert tour.
Crowe appeals to all generations, and her music can be heard
regularly on CBC Radio, college radio and "indie"
stations.
She's appeared on the Vicki Gabereau show, and MTV, and been
featured in a range of publications including Macleans
magazine, The National Post, and The Globe and Mail
newspapers.
Her one-hour television special, Tidings, is broadcast each
December across Canada on The New VI.
"With the soul of Janis Joplin and the tenderness of
fellow Canuck Sarah McLachlan, Crowe rocks with her own
unique brand of roots charm," says Exclaim magazine.
"Allison Crowe has a voice to fall in love with,"
notes UK music trade journal Record of the Day.
In concert, Crowe's diverse repertoire ranges from her many
original songs, through interpretations of music by such
artists as Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Tori
Amos, and Ani DiFranco, with an occasional Broadway show
tune or Pearl Jam cover adding to the mix.
On Amazon.com, the world's largest online store, Crowe's
recordings are among the top downloaded tracks in categories
as varied as Alternative Rock, Vocal Jazz, Blues,
Contemporary Folk, Singer-Songwriter, and Traditional
British & Celtic Folk.
Crowe's singer-songwriter debut, Secrets, proved popular
immediately upon its release in Spring 2004. Following a
fall tour across Canada and into the northeastern U.S., the
album made it onto critics' year-end "Best of"
lists south of the border.
Her holiday album, Tidings, which came out shortly before
Christmas, achieved additional international acclaim with
Crowe's version of Cohen's Hallelujah among those songs
receiving raves in the U.K. and elsewhere in Europe.
Advance tickets for Crowe's Alert Bay shows are $15 and
available through the Lodge, the Nimpkish Hotel and the
Looking Good salon.
Tickets will be $20 at the door.
