She makes her living as a singer, but this weekend Allison Crowe
tries
her hand at a different art - theatre.
Crowe joins a cast of women of all ages for The Vagina
Monologues, the
award-winning play by Eve Ensler, running Friday to Sunday at
Malaspina
University-College Theatre as a fund-raiser for Nanaimo Women's
Centre
and Ensler's V-Day project, which helps address violence against
women
and girls worldwide.
Co-produced by Malaspina's theatre department and students'
union, the
cast of players includes Laura Johnston, Laura Gainey, Lorna McNeil,
Pat
Donaldson, Staci Gauvreau, Tara Mitchell, Vanessa Jones, Jenn
Stuart,
Tabetha Wood, Kristin Robinson, Shannon Matthews, Fiona Walsh, Maria
Gomes and Nicole Busby.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (Feb. 11-12) and 2 p.m.
Sunday
(Feb. 13).
Tickets are $10 through the students' union, Bella Nail Studio
and
Lobelia Lair.
