The buzz is all around Nanaimo's Allison Crowe, whose demo, produced by Bif Naked manager Peter Karroll, indicates a Fiona Apple-esque pianist-singer of the poetic and haunting vocals variety.
Nineteen-year-old Crowe counts among her own heroes Tori Amos and Ani DiFranco, however, and she has been known to play DiFranco's Independence Day.
You'd be wise to catch Crowe at the Arts Club Granville Island tonight. It might turn out to be one of those history-making shows that only a lucky few ever catch -- like the time Jeff Buckley played the Railway.
